Healthy Community Design Webinar

Publication date
September 26, 2011

Every time we step out our doors, our health is affected by the physical design of our community. Healthy community design can help improve the quality of life in every community -- giving everyone a variety of healthy, available, accessible, and affordable options to live, learn, work and play.

On November 21, 2011 from 11:00 am - Noon CST (Noon - 1:00 pm EST), Arthur Wendel, M.D., Team Lead for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Healthy Community Design Initiative, and Leslie Meehan ACIP, Transportation Planner with the Nashville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, will discuss:

  • How healthy community design integrates evidence-based health strategies into community planning, transportation, and land-use decisions.
  • How planning and designing communities with health in mind can lead to improved community health, wellness, and quality of life.
  • Strategies and tools for ensuring that healthy community design decisions are being considered in your community.
  • How the Nashville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization integrated public health into their 25 year plan for transportation infrastructure in the greater Nashville region.

Please join us on November 21, 2011 to learn the basics of healthy community design and hear about specific healthy community design elements that could be implemented in your area. Register online here.
