Updated April 1, 2019:

The exploreMOhealth project relaunched on April 1, 2019, with up-to-date ZIP code-level data, serving as a great tool for Missouri communities who are looking to improve health as they can build custom reports, maps, and graphics. Learn more in a new Research Brief here.

Across Missouri, community health professionals and residents have access to a new tool to identify health factors and outcomes at the ZIP Code level: exploreMOhealth. This portal provides new ZIP Code-level data, analysis, and health rankings for the state, along with powerful mapping and reporting tools to better contextualize and share this information.

The hyperlocal data at the core of exploreMOhealth enables the public, health professionals, and others to see variations in opportunity and health outcomes that may exist across ZIP codes. Local hospitals and public health professionals are encouraged to use the resources in exploreMOhealth to create data-driven community health assessments. These data can also help inform decisions about priority health needs and where tailored interventions may help communities to get the most value out of limited resources. Similarly, members of the public are empowered to use these resources to see where their ZIP Code ranks in comparison to others, and actively engage in decisionmaking about local health concerns.

The project began with funding from the 2015 County Health Rankings Research Grants, which allowed researchers at Washington University in St. Louis and the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) to develop measures of population health at the sub-county level. These researchers aligned their calculations with the County Health Rankings model. The MHA and the Missouri Foundation for Health formed a partnership to share this trove of information and develop the exciting tools and resources in exploreMOhealth to make it accessible and actionable for all Missourians.
