RWJF funding for CHR&R to end in 2026
For 15 years, County Health Rankings and Roadmaps (CHR&R) has provided data, evidence and tools to help communities better understand health and how they can take action to improve health and equity. Unfortunately, our primary funder, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, has decided to end funding for CHR&R at the end of 2026. This means that the 2025 Annual Data Release will likely be our last.
We are providing news about our funding so the more than 700,000 people who use our resources every year have time to identify alternate resources and ways to continue important work that improves health and equity.
Our work is rooted in a long-term vision where all people and places have what they need to thrive. While CHR&R’s grant from RWJF is ending, the work to realize this vision will not.
We recognize this is a challenging time for those in public health and health care. Access to critical data and evidence, and funding for public health programs are endangered. We continue to stand in solidarity with governmental and non-governmental partners committed to creating the conditions for everyone to thrive.
Our dedication to eliminating unfair and avoidable gaps across geographies and groups remains steadfast. We will continue to join efforts that grow the power of people, and to work together to create communities where everyone can thrive.
CHR&R will continue to provide support for communities while we have resources to do so. We invite you to explore our recent Annual Data Release and new model of health.
As we look to the future, we are interested in documenting how you use CHR&R in your work. Sharing your stories and experiences will help us explore alternative funding to continue providing resources valuable to the field.

We will provide updates as we have more information. Thank you for the work that you do to create a world in which everyone has what they need to thrive.
