How Does Civic Participation Influence Health?

Series:
Date & time:
October 19, 2021 3pm EDT

Evidence shows the more you get involved, the better your health. That’s true for individuals and communities. Higher degrees of civic participation are linked to better health outcomes. In this webinar, we will identify opportunities for civic participation and explore the correlation to health. We will hear from Dawn Hunter from the Southeastern Region of the Network for Public Health Law who will introduce us to the newly released Health and Democracy Index, an online tool correlating health indicators to voting policies. We will examine how this tool can be used to advance equity. Lastly, Kim Irwin with Health by Design will share an example of a training in Indianapolis that has helped residents participate in health equity advocacy.

County Health Rankings & Roadmaps will host a one-hour interactive virtual discussion at 4pm ET, immediately following the webinar. We encourage you to participate in an engaging dialogue with peers across the country to share your experiences with racial equity. Mark your calendars and plan to stay as long as you're able.
